Grand Cove's Chair Yoga
The chair yoga offered at the clubhouse from September to May is an all inclusive gentle yoga class geared to seniors and/or people with mobility issues. The class starts at 10:30 and runs to approximately 12 noon. The entire exercise can be done in a chair with options to stand during certain poses. The class is approximately 30 to 45 minutes long. After our yoga practice, the participants are encouraged to enjoy a cup of herbal tea and conversation.
Yoga has many health benefits including increased muscle strength and tone, increased flexibility, increased energy levels and improved respiration. The program has been positively received here at Grand Cove. Participation numbers vary with as many as 22 but our median number would be around 15. I have received positive feedback about the gentle stretching and the socialization aspect.
